The Team Patricia “Tricia” Borgardt Dining & Entertaining Xpert
Tricia Borgardt learned wine from the ground up. Starting in the vineyards of the Pacific Northwest she’s worked in wineries both there and in Germany – small, family wineries that believed in wine as an integral part of dining and an expression of terroir. A passion for foods that likewise show a sense of place developed while she lived in Europe. She brought that ideal back home to the states and, while buying wine for a boutique grocer, quickly became the in-house expert in cheese, vinegars and oils. For Tricia, cooking and providing a dining experience is an expression of one’s heart and soul. Food provides community not only with your fellow diners, but with those that grew or created what goes on the table. The highest expression of that is wine, which can uniquely provide a snap shot of time, place and winemaker in each glass. As a Master Sommelier candidate she has devoted her time to studying wine, spirits, sake, beer and cigars, as well as service exellence. Her personal interests have led her to learn Japanese Tea Ceremony along with other Asian variations of that tradition. The opportunity to spend time in Seattle, New Orleans and Vienna also developed an appreciation for the terroirs and traditions of coffee. Sharing her knowledge and passion for wine and food has led Tricia to teach at Community College and create staff training programs at each restaurant she’s worked. Along the way she’s had the opportunity to work with such renouned organizations as Commander’s Palace and the Ritz Carlton, developing an even deeper love for sharing fine wine and food experiences.
